I’m reaching out on behalf of the Arvada Police Foundation to share an important initiative that is close to our hearts: the creation of the Arvada Police Honor Garden.
This memorial will pay tribute to four brave Arvada Police Officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty:
- Officer Gordon Beesley, ambushed in Olde Town Arvada on June 21, 2021.
- Officer Dillon Vakoff, killed during a child custody dispute on September 11, 2022.
- Officer W. Michael Northey, struck by a motorist in 1979 while making an arrest.
- Officer Robert Beghtol, who tragically drowned in a scuba diving training exercise in 1961.
To honor their service and sacrifice, we are raising $500,000 to build the Honor Garden in Memorial Park, just north of Arvada City Hall. This serene space will offer a place for reflection, remembrance, and gratitude.
Thanks to generous early support — including a substantial matching gift from Christian Anschutz and his organization — we are off to a strong start. But there is still much work to be done, and we need your help.
